Levitation House
Levitation house is one of the more diminutive dwellings within the “Kambanite - Housing Estate”, this architectural gem exudes a sense of openness and serenity. Its airy design not only facilitates breathtaking panoramic views but also fosters a seamless integration with the surrounding natural environment.Located in the “Pancharevo” area, “Kambanite - Housing Estate” is a residential complex consisting of 10 detached housing buildings. Each one is unique in its design and functional layout. The buildings are designed to harmonize with the existing vegetation, preserving its integrity and enhancing their individuality. Innovative interior spaces are created to enrich the living environment. The street system is minimized to maximize preservation of the natural environment while providing adequate coverage for the residents’ needs. It is based on the concept of shared streets, ensuring equal access for pedestrians and vehicles alike.
The entire complex benefits from the richness of the contoured terrain. This allows a significant portion of the buildings to be designed in such a way that, by dividing their volume into two parts vertically, the lower part of them is always partially embedded. With this approach, we have both the lower part partially below ground and the upper part ethereally above it, avoiding houses losing space entirely to the complex as well as in their distribution. This is how Levitation house is organized, its name hinting at this “levitating” aspect due to its main volume being elevated above the ground.
To utilize the clean area of the above-ground volume, all the main rooms are located there, while secondary and transitional spaces are placed in the basement volume, including a laundry room, storage, and garage. To provide maximum comfort to its users, the basement also includes a room for personal service with its own English courtyard, which provides the main access of light to the room.
Access from the basement is provided by a single-flight staircase leading to the foyer of the levitating volume. It divides it into two zones - day and night. The daytime area accommodates a spacious living room with a forest view and an adjacent terrace for peaceful and shared evenings in natural air. In the nighttime zone, two relatively large bedrooms and a larger master bedroom with a separate dressing area are located. Each bedroom is provided with a sanitary facility for the maximum comfort of its occupants.
