Kambanite Housing Estate in Pancharevo is a collection of ten single-family residences designed with precision, restraint, and deep respect for the natural environment. Each home reflects CAST Studio’s commitment to functional clarity, material integrity, and architectural longevity. The masterplan prioritizes minimal road infrastructure, preserved vegetation, and shared pedestrian-friendly circulation, fostering a calm and cohesive living environment within immediate reach of Sofia.

House /10, Cave House – The site is defined by a pronounced western slope and dense evergreen vegetation that envelops the entire property. The architectural strategy responds directly to these natural conditions, shaping a residence that appears rooted in the terrain while maintaining a refined, contemporary expression. The extensive program is organized across multiple levels—service and technical areas are discreetly located underground, preserving valuable landscape and maintaining visual continuity throughout the plot.

The building’s mass is fragmented to accommodate existing trees, while a series of terraces extend from the living and sleeping areas, creating strong visual and spatial connections to the surrounding greenery. Vertical architectural elements are rhythmically distributed across the façades, softening the building’s proportions and enhancing the dialogue between solid and void. These structural gestures frame transitional “in-between” zones—semi-covered spaces that blur the boundary between indoor and outdoor living.

To further refine comfort, canopies are introduced above the terraces, providing shade and protection while encouraging year-round use of exterior spaces. The result is a calm, light-filled residence that balances mass and transparency, privacy and openness, structure and landscape. Cave House embodies CAST Studio’s vision for architecture that grows naturally from its site—an enduring home shaped by context, crafted with precision, and designed for a life in harmony with nature.
